    • Edward John "Ed" Markey is an American politician. He is the United States Senator-elect from the state of Massachusetts. Since 1976, he has served as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 5th congressional district (redistricted from the 7th district in 2013), which includes most of Boston's northern and western suburbs, such as Medford and Framingham. He is the longest-serving member of both the Massachusetts and New England House delegations and the second longest-serving current member of Congress from New England, behind Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont.
